The ingredients needed to make Flavoured Rice with Peas:
  1. Get 1 cup long grain rice or basmati rice, washed and soaked for 1 hr
  2. Make ready I cup frozen or fresh peas
  3. Make ready 1 tbsp olive oil
  4. Get to taste Salt and Pepper
  5. Take 1/2 tsp turmeric
  6. Make ready 1 onion chopped
  7. Prepare 2 tbsp ginger, garlic, chilli and cilantro paste
  8. Take 2 cups stock, vegetable or chicken, which ever you fancy

Melt the butter and your choice of herbs and spices in the same skillet. Mix in the peas and the rice and stir well to distribute the herbs evenly throughout. Directions In a small saucepan, saute rice and onion in butter until onion is tender. Combine the rice and the chicken stock in a large saucepan or skillet, cover with a lid and bring to a boil.

Instructions to make Flavoured Rice with Peas:
  1. In a hot pan, add oil and onions, cook until translucent, now add ginger, garlic and cilantro paste and cook for a minute or two, add rice and stir fry for 3-4 minutes
  2. Now add peas, mix well, add stock, and bring to a rapid boil on high heat
  3. Turn heat to very low and let the rice cook until all the water is absorbed, fluff rice with a fork, turn heat off and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  4. Serve as a side with protein and enjoy!

Directions In a small saucepan, saute rice and onion in butter until onion is tender. Combine the rice and the chicken stock in a large saucepan or skillet, cover with a lid and bring to a boil. At the end of the cooking time, stir the rice and check the rice for tenderness. If the liquid has been absorbed, drizzle with the soy sauce and sesame oil and toss well to coat. Stir in a tablespoon of olive oil and the same amount of butter, which gives the peas their creamy texture.
